As General Manager of Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan Inc., Scott brings over 20 years of experience and a passion for innovating and assisting clients and teams to reach their business goals. Scott is completing his MBA with the Sandermoen School of Business at the University of Fredericton, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry & Environmental Management from the University of New Brunswick, as well as his Registered Professional Forester (RPF) designation.
Over the course of his career, Scott has worked diligently to develop solutions to the unique challenges that industry, First Nations and government face as we continue to grow our northern economy. Scott has held senior posts within the forest industry, and more recently was directly involved with Federal participation in key energy, mining and forestry related economic development projects in Northern Ontario. Scott brings an in-depth understanding of the financial, human resources and strategic planning needs of successful projects and companies, and puts them to work within the company.
Shawn brings 30 years of forestry experience to the Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan team. Primarily his experience is related to silviculture operations but he is also experienced in forest management plan implementation as well as harvesting operations. Shawn holds a Forest Technician Diploma and is also a certified forest operations Compliance Inspector. Shawn is involved in all aspects of Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Nann’s silviculture program. He is responsible for training and supervision of seasonal staff involved in the tree plant and site preparation programs as well as conducting free to grow surveys, manual tending and cone collection. He is also responsible for monitoring the slash alignment program and conducting forest compliance inspections in harvested areas.
Denny has 5 years of experience working with computer mapping and GIS data collection and manipulation and was one of the first employees of Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan. Through his previous work experience with Ginoogaming First Nation and his current position with Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan, he has developed a strong knowledge base and is responsible for updating and maintaining the geodatabase, creating data layers and manipulating data for analysis and providing input for future planning. He is also responsible for generating maps to support the site preparation, slash alignment and tree plant programs. His knowledge of traditional land uses and the forest management process brings a unique set of skills and experience to the Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan team.
Nicholas began working with Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan in the summer of 2017 as a seasonal Silviculture Assistant and was promoted to a full-time position with the company. Prior to working with Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan, Nicholas was a Geo-Tech Surveyor with Greenstone Gold Mines. Nicholas is primarily responsible for completing silvicultural surveys including free-to-grow, stocking surveys and competition surveys throughout the tree planting program to ensure accuracy and to support future program planning requirements. He is also responsible for supporting the slash alignment program. Nicholas is currently expanding his skills and is receiving on the job training related to forest compliance monitoring.
Scott brings over 20 years of operational forestry experience to the Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan Team. Scott began his forestry career working as a summer student for Kimberley-Clark and has gained invaluable experience in all aspects of forestry operations. Scott has worked for various logging companies across northwestern Ontario and has developed comprehensive operational plans for logging companies in the region. He is responsible for operational planning including the development and implementation of Annual Work Schedules and currently oversees the development, implementation and reporting of the harvest and road construction operations on the Kenogami Forest. Scott is also a certified forest operations Compliance Inspector and leads the Compliance Monitoring program at Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan.
Deanna has been the Chief Forester with Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan since 2013 and has over 20 years of forestry experience ranging from forest management planning and reporting to field supervision and program management. Deanna is a graduate of the School of Forestry at Lakehead University and has been a Registered Professional Forester (R.P.F.) since 1997. Throughout her career, Deanna has worked as a Silviculture Forester and a Planning Forester within the forest industry. In these roles she has worked with a variety of stakeholders and her experience managing silviculture programs has enabled her to author and implement forest management plans, annual work schedules and annual reports which support the continued sustainability of the Kenogami Forest.
Wil began his career with Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan as a Silviculture Supervisor, facilitating the tree plant program ensuring quality and production standards were upheld and completing free-to-grow and establishment surveys on the Kenogami Forest. Wil has previously worked as an Industrial Electrician and has a background in the mining sector as a prospector and driller assistant. Wil transitioned from the silviculture program into forestry operations and is now responsible for ensuring licencees on the forest adhere to the forest management plan and annual work schedules. Wil performs routine field checks on operating areas, documenting findings, completing reporting requirements and providing feedback to licencees and operators. Wil also mentors new employees to further their development of their knowledge and skills in forestry operations.
Lisette joined the Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan team in 2015 as our Financial Manager. Lisette has over 25 years of experience in finance and business administration as an entrepreneur and small business owner in Nipigon, Ontario. Lisette has strong background in the forestry sector and in-depth knowledge of harvesting operations as the former Office Manager for 4K’s Logging, a large harvesting contractor, for over 10 years. Lisette is responsible for the financial activities of Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan including producing financial reports, processing payroll, documenting financial transactions, preparing payments and reconciliations as well as completing government reporting requirements.
